  18. If you purchase one, make sure it says 33.6 on it.  For three months during 
  19. November, December and January they sold a Sportster Vi 28.8 that they 
  20. currently WILL NOT UPGRADE, these models are still being retailed.  If you 
  21. purchase(d) one of these you are currently out of luck "as it has a different 
  22. architecture" than the new Vi's.  If you have one of these call and e-mail USR 
  23. to convince them that a 33.6 upgrade is in order.  As far as the company; you 
  24. make the call about a company that would market an instantly obsolete product 
  25. for three months when they had a replacement for it already being assembled.  
  26. You are reading a message from a frustrated customer, I would welcome hearing 
  27. Jim Thomsen give the USR side of this issue.  As far as the modem itself, it's 
  28. ok. I'm happy with the Quicklink Message Center software, and the voice/fax 
  29. recognition has worked well, the external speaker isn't so hot but you can 
  30. route the output to your speakers instead.
